Zeeland East is excited to announce the hiring of Brent Brock to lead the Boys Track and Field Program.  Coach Brock takes over the program from longstanding Zeeland East Coach, Ralph Neal.  Neal is retiring in January after serving as teacher and coach since 2002.  

Brock brings experience to the position as he has spent the last three years at Zeeland East as a Track and Field Assistant Coach.  In addition to his time coaching track and field, Coach Brock has also assisted in the EDGE Conditioning Program in the summer.  Prior to his coaching experience in Michigan, Brock had been on coaching staffs at Lockport and Highland Park High Schools in Illinois.  

In addition to his coaching experience, Brock was a talented student-athlete at GVSU.  He participated in both the long jump and 400 during his time as a Laker.  Brock’s work ethic and leadership were noticed as he was named team captain his senior year.  

Coach Brock has proven over the last three years that he is ready to take on additional leadership and responsibilities.  His steady demeanor, passion for track and field and ability to form relationships make him an ideal fit to lead our boys track and field program.  We are thrilled that our student-athletes will learn and be mentored under his leadership.  

Brock had the following to say regarding his new position at Zeeland East:

For the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside our athletes and coaches while watching this program continue to grow talent, work ethic and team pride.  Stepping into the head coaching role, I’m excited to bring even more energy, enthusiasm and intention to a sport I care deeply about.  Track has given so much to me and I can’t wait to give that same experience, growth and confidence back to our student-athletes.  I am grateful for the opportunity to lead and hope to continue to raise the standard of excellence that makes Zeeland East special!
