In Tuesday’s pre-district game, Zeeland East lost to Holland Christian 4-3.  Holland Christian jumped on the board early notching 2 runs in the top of the first inning on two hits and two walks.  Zeeland East answered in the bottom of the first with 2 runs of their own led by singles from Cobe Huizenga and Kainan Bayn and a sacrifice fly by Zach DeGraaf.

Holland Christian regained the lead with a walk and a two out single in the 3rd inning to go ahead 3-2, and racked another run on in the 6th with a sac fly.

Zeeland East battled back in the 7th when Ethan Houghtaling tripled to start the inning and scored on a Clayton Cochran RBI groundout, but the Chix could not get another run to tie the game.

Adam Berghorst pitched 5 solid innings in the loss, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits while walking 3 and striking out 7.  Clayton Cochran finished the game pitching 2 innings giving up 2 hits and one run.

Cone Huizenga had two hits a run scored and a stolen base in the game. Kainan Bayn added a single, stolen base and one run scored and Ethan Houghtaling had the only multiple base hit with a triple in the 7th inning.

Zeeland East finishes the year at 26-13.
