Zeeland East Wrestling competed at the Allendale Falcon Invitational yesterday.  The Falcon featured five (5) State ranked teams from around the State with many weight classes featuring multiple returning State Placers and Qualifiers.  Placing for East were Gavin Drenten in 2nd at 126 and Parker Williams in 3rd at 285.  

Gavin pinned his first two (2) opponents to enter the semi-finals.  In the semi-finals Gavin defeated Cole Lausch of Stevensville Lakeshore by technical fall 16-1 in the second period.  The finals paired Gavin against the first seed Gavyn Merchant of Kingsly, a returning State Placer (4th).  Gavin fell to Merchant 12-4 to finish in second place.  The loss ot Merchant is the only loss on Gavin's season record of 21-1 this year.  

Parker's road to placing was similarly difficult with his three (3) opponents having only 3 losses total among them.  Parkers first match was versus Briar Hambrock of Fremont who brought at record of 10-1 into the day. Parker pinned Hambrock in the first period.  Parker then faced Aaron Holstege of Allendale who was the days Champion with a record of 17-0 on the season.  Parker lost to Holstege in the 3rd period.  The Third (3rd) Place match pitted Parker versus Ray VanDyke of Kingsley who entered the day 11-2.  Parker pinned VanDyke at the begining of the 2nd Period to secure 3rd Place.   Parker has a current season record of 19-2 with his only losses to Holstege of Allendale this year.  

East is back on the mat this Wednesday in Conference action at Spring Lake facing Mona Shored and the Conference cross-over Fruitport.
