Richmond named ZE Softball Coach
Zeeland East High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Denny Richmond as the new Varsity Softball Coach. Richmond assumes leadership of the program following the departure of Jolie Groeneveld, who has accepted a coaching position at Indiana Wesleyan University.Coach Richmond brings a strong foundation of coaching experience to the CHIX. He served as an assistant coach with the Zeeland East Softball program last season and has previously coached travel softball with Lake Effect.Richmond has a deep knowledge of softball, is skilled at building relationships and is committed to developing student-athletes both on and off the field. Brock picked to lead ZE Boys Track and Field
Zeeland East is excited to announce the hiring of Brent Brock to lead the Boys Track and Field Program. Coach Brock takes over the program from longstanding Zeeland East Coach, Ralph Neal. Neal is retiring in January after serving as teacher and coach since 2002. Brock brings experience to the position as he has spent the last three years at Zeeland East as a Track and Field Assistant Coach. In addition to his time coaching track and field, Coach Brock has also assisted in the EDGE Conditioning Program in the summer. Prior to his coaching experience in Michigan, Brock had been on coaching staffs at Lockport and Highland Park High Schools in Illinois. In addition to his coaching experience, Brock was a talented student-athlete at GVSU. He participated in both the long jump and 400 during his time as a Laker. Brock’s work ethic and leadership were noticed as he was named team captain his senior year. C

Boys Varsity Baseball vs. Holland Christian High School
Boys Varsity BaseballZeeland East hosted Holland Christian on Tuesday afternoon for a conference double-header. The Chix were victorious in both games by scores of 11-0 (5 innings) and 3-1.In game one, Ethan Campbell hurled a 5 inning no-hitter. Campbell only allowed one base runner in the game on an error. Campbell struck out 12 batters and used just 57 pitches in the 5 innings.Offensively, Mason Raade had 3 hits, all three were doubles. Peyton Davis chipped in with 2 hits and 3 RBI, while Zeek Ramadhani also had a pair of hits and one RBI. Ryan Kuzma added a double.In game two, Caden Hunderman recorded the win. Hunderman went 6 innings and allowed just 2 hits and one run (unearned) while striking out 8. Mason Raade closed the game, pitching the 7th inning for the save. Boys Varsity GolfThe Zeeland East Varsity Boys golf team finished 7th on Monday in the Holland Christian Jamboree held at Winding Creek. Scoring for the Chix were Reid Blondin, Kyson Siebart, Dillon Goodrich, and Kolter Rotman. The Chix will travel to Crestview on Thursday for the Zeeland West jamboree.

Boys Varsity BaseballZeeland East hosted Whitehall for a non-conference double-header on Friday afternoon. The Chix swept the games with scores of 11-4 and 12-0.In game 1, Gavin Weighmink recorded the win, pitching 5 and ⅓ innings, allowing 5 hits and 3 runs (0 earned) while striking out 6. Peyton Davis and Ayden Lankheet were both solid in relief. Peyton Davis led the way offensively recording 4 hits (1 double), 4 runs and 2 RBI. Ethan Campbell also added 3 hits in the game with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Ryan Kuzma chipped in with two runs scored and 2 RBI. In game 2, Sawyer Klaasen pitched a complete game shut out (5 innings) in the win. Klaasen only allowed 2 hits in 5 innings of work, while striking out 9 and walking none. Boys Varsity BaseballThe Zeeland East varsity baseball team traveled to Rockford for a single contest on Thursday evening. The Chix jumped out early leading by 3-0 after 3 innings but couldn't hold on. In the bottom of the 4th, Rockford tied the game at 3-3 with a two out, two RBI triple. From there the game went scoreless until the bottom of the 7th when Rockford hit a seeing eye single with two outs to win the game by a score of 4-3.Mason Raade and Caden Hunderman were both terric on the mound for Zeeland East. Girls Varsity LacrosseThe Zeeland girls lacrosse team opened their season in dominant fashion, earning a commanding 11–0 road victory over Coopersville. The offense came out firing, with goals from Pela, Penny, Audrina, and Dani—highlighted by a great assist from Evie to set up Dani. Zeeland established control early in the midfield, consistently winning the draw and setting the tone for the game. That momentum carried into a rock-solid defensive performance, as the team held Coopersville scoreless. Goalie Carli anchored the effort with key saves to secure the shutout. The team’s hustle was evident across the field, especially in 50/50 loose ball situations where Zeeland repeatedly outworked their opponent. Boys Varsity VolleyballZeeland Varsity Volleyball had their home opener on Thursday against Caledonia and Sparta. The BIRDS started competition against Caledonia dropping the first game (19-25), winning the second (25-23) and found themselves up 19-14 in the third game before falling to the Scots 26-24. Zeeland took on a talented Sparta team in game two dropping straight sets 17-25 and 18-25. The team is back in action on Saturday morning as they head to West Ottawa to compete in a QUAD starting at 9am.

The team then rallied in the second match to pick up their first win of the season vs. East Kentwood (20-25, 27-25, 25-14). Zeeland opens up home competition on Thursday as they have a TRI with Sparta and Caledonia. Come out and support the BIRDS as matches start 4pm in the Zeeland East Gymnasium.

The Chix were victorious winning by a score of 4-1.Ethan Campbell pitched 6 strong innings, striking out 12 and allowing just one hit and three walks. The only run scored was due to a fielding error.Freshman Sawyer Klaasen completed the save, pitching the 7th inning while striking out two and giving up one hit.Jack Toner and Zeek Ramadhani each collected a pair of hits in the game and each drove in a run. Ramadhani's two hits were both for extra bases with a double and triple.The second game of the double header was suspended after 4 innings with Hamilton leading Zeeland East by a score of 7-4. The game will be resumed on Thursday and they will also follow with game 3 of the series at Hamilton.

Lost to Hamilton 6 to 2 and swept all the matches vrs Grant.Kiana Samora and Raeleigh Jones finished 3-0 at 3D on the day. Winning two matches was Trihn Kleikamp (1S), Mahalia Vis (3S); Kayla Geerlings (4S), Pippa Boerman and Olivia Grotenhuis (1D), Taylor Bouws and Aubree Assink (2D) and Elyana Vanderklok and Jaelynn Velderman (4D).
