Zeeland Varsity Swim and Dive made its way over to East Grand Rapid Tuesday night with an outstanding conference win 105-80.
In a competitive meet against EGR, the Zeeland swimmers and divers persisted through the challenge very well with the coaching of Coach Drew Scheerhorn. After the team's win, Sceerhorn said, “This was our first in-conference swim meet. We worked really hard getting ready for it. Our team, we are still figuring out where we are in terms of what pieces will fit where, but we are well rounded and we’re pretty deep so it’s good to get our first conference win this season.”
The ambiance coming from this natatorium was loud and proud. The excitement came from everyone standing on the pool deck, especially for Soph. Andrew Skaggs as he qualified for the State Meet. Skaggs said, “I think as a team this meet, we stepped up to the challenge and we all performed really well. They might not all have been the best times, but we did what we could. As an individual today my 100 Breast was really what stood out for me. Going a best time in-state cut today was a huge thing and I am just really happy for this team and everything about swimming.”
