UNITY CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL: 4
The Chix played a 7 inning game against Unity Christian on Friday afternoon in Hudsonville and pulled away late for a 11-4 victory. The offense got off to a slow start against the Unity pitcher, losing 2-0 after 4 innings. But in the last 3 inning, the Chix hitters started to show more patience at the plate and scored 11 runs. Luke Gruppen had 3 hits, including a double, and plated 3 runs. Trenton Lynema also added 3 hits, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Sam Cochran reached base 3 times, scored 3 runs and had 1 RBI. Brandon Claerbaut reached base 4 times, stole 3 bases, scored a run and knocked in one.
Keenan Faber took to the mound for the Chix and pitched complete game. Keenan allowed only 6 hits, while striking out 10 Unity batters and only walking 2.
The Chix are back in action Monday as they play Zeeland West.
