Zeeland East Clinches Lead In Sixth Inning To Defeat Mona Shores

Zeeland East stole the lead late in the game in a 10-5 victory over Mona Shores in Game 2 of Conference Doubleheader on Tuesday. The game was tied at five with Zeeland East batting in the top of the sixth when Ali Holman singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Holman collected four hits in five at bats to help lead Zeeland East to victory. Holman tripled in the third, singled in the fourth, singled in the sixth, and singled in the seventh.

Zeeland East got things started in the second inning. Madalyn Hickey hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run.

Mona Shores evened things up at five in the bottom of the fifth inning. Mona Shores scored two runs when Macey Spaniola singled.

Zeeland East put up four runs in the seventh inning. Reese Gruppen, Riley Gruppen, and Katie Carlson each had RBIs in the big inning.

Hickey earned the victory in the pitcher's circle for Zeeland East.

Kristen Hylland took the loss for Mona Shores. The hurler surrendered ten runs on 17 hits over seven innings, striking out five.

Zeeland East totaled 17 hits in the game. Holman, Jaiden Lee, Carlson, and Gruppen all had multiple hits for Zeeland East. Holman led Zeeland East with four hits in five at bats.
