Zeeland East is thrilled to announce the hiring of James Lunga as the school’s boys varsity soccer coach.  Lunga takes the reins of the program from Zack Williams who faithfully served the program over the last five years.  

Lunga has coached a number of teams at various levels over the last couple of years with the United Soccer Athletes Club in Holland.  He currently serves as a teacher at Grand River Prep High School and Economics Professor at Grand Rapids Community College.  James and his wife Presley reside in Zeeland.  

In multiple meetings with Coach Lunga it was very evident that he is passionate about the game of soccer, teaching and forming relationships.  He is eager to get started with our boys program and we couldn’t be more excited for him to provide excellent experiences for our student-athletes.  

Coach Lunga had the following to say about coaching at Zeeland East:

"I am extremely excited to step into the role of Zeeland East Boys Varsity Soccer head coach! Not only do I plan on sharing my passion, knowledge, and unrelenting desire to grow in the sport with the boys but I also plan on continuing to develop Zeeland's wonderful community.

As a resident of the area, I want our soccer program to become a pillar of community engagement and spirit! As an educator, I want to grow our athletes' approach to learning by expanding how they learn within the game. And as a coach, I want our boys' character to not only be defined by what they can achieve on the field but also by what they can achieve off of it.  I look forward to all the memories we'll be sharing Zeeland!"

A meeting to introduce Coach Lunga will be scheduled shortly.  Additionally, a summer schedule will be sent out to families as soon as finalized.
