ZEELAND WEST HIGH SCHOOL: 5
In the final game of the series, Zeeland East was defeated by Zeeland West 5-4. Despite 8 hits and an early 3-0 lead, the Chix could not hold on to the lead to secure victory. The Dux battled back and scored 5 unanswered runs (3 in the 3rd, 2 in the 5th). In the final at bat in the bottom of the seventh inning the Chix plated their 4th run and had the tying run on 3rd base before falling just short.
Cobe Huizenga was 2-3 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, 1 run scored and a walk. Zach DeGraaf added two hits and two RBI, while Layden Byker scored 2 runs.
The Chix are 2-2 on the season and travel to West Ottawa on Saturday for the Martin E. Ball tournament.
