Zeeland East brought home their own tournament championship on Saturday by defeating Saugatuck 9-3 and then Comstock Park 4-1.

In the opening round of games, Comstock Park defeated South Christian 6-3.  Zeeland East defeated Saugatuck 9-3 behind a solid pitching performance of Ethan Houghtaling.  Houghtaling picked up the win pitching 5 innings, striking out 6 and surrendering only one hit and an unearned run.  Layden Byker finished the final two innings, striking out 4 batters.

Offensively, Zeeland East capitalized on 9 walks in the game.  Zach DeGraaf had a big 2 RBI double and Stephen Nelson and Clayton Cochran chipped in with 2 RBI a piece.  Cobe Huizenga stole three bases in the game.

In the final championship game, Zeeland East rode a great pitching performance by Clayton Cochran to defeat Comstock Park 4-1.  Cochran pitched the complete game win, scattering 6 hits, striking out 8 and allowing one earned run.

Zach DeGraaf and Layden Byker each had two hits in the game, Stephen Nelson added a double.

Zeeland East improves their record to 18-8 on the season.
