CALVIN CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL: 6
Zeeland East traveled to Calvin Christian on Friday afternoon for a single game and defeated the Squires by a score of 8-6 in 8 innings.
Adam Berghorst started the game, going 4 innings in the no-decision, allowing no runs, 1 hit and striking out 8. The score was 5-0 in favor of the Chix when Berghorst departed the game, but Calvin Christian took advantage of an error and timely hitting to tie the game in the 7th inning. Kainan Bayn picked up the win in relief.
Ethan Houghtaling had 2 hits for the Chix, while Berghorst added and RBI triple and Bayn had a 2 RBI double. Zach DeGraaf and Josh Fusco added huge RBIs in the 8th inning to secure the victory.
Zeeland East improves their record to 26-10 overall on the season.
