Zeeland East traveled to play on DeWitt Field at Cornerstone University on Saturday. Zeeland East took a two-game sweep over Fennville with scores of 12-0 (5 innings) and 14-4 (6 innings).
In game one, Adam Berghorst pitched three innings in the win, striking out 7 batters. Ethan DeWitt pitched a perfect 4th and 5th inning to secure victory.
Offensively, Zeeland East tallied 13 hits in the 5-inning mercy. Ethan Houghtaling had three hits, including a double and triple, Jeff Agar and Collin Arendsen added two hits a piece, while Luke Gruppen had a triple.
In game two, Kevin McRae recorded the win on the mound, pitching 4 innings, allowing only 1 run. The offensive attack was once again strong with the Chix tallying 15 hits in six innings. Collin Arendsen had three hits, including a triple, Ethan DeWitt added two triples, while Luke Gruppen chipped in with two singles of his own.
Zeeland East hosts Zeeland West on Tuesday at 4pm to wrap up the OK-Green conference schedule.
