ZEELAND WEST HIGH SCHOOL: 1
Zeeland East defeated Zeeland West on Thursday to win the 3-game series and finish in sole position of 3rd place in the OK-Green (Holland Christian and Byron Center finished 1st and 2nd). The game was knotted at zero until the top of the 5th inning when Collin Arendsen led off the inning with an infield single and moved around the bases before scoring on a Sage Kraai sac fly. In the top of the 6th, Zeeland East added two more insurance runs on a huge Tanner Tresemer double.
Three runs was all the Chix needed for Adam Berghorst to secure the victory on the mound. Berghorst pitched the complete game, allowing 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 12 and walking only 1.
The Chix host Wyoming on Friday in a non-conference single game.
