The Zeeland East Boys Varsity Baseball team defeated Covenant Christian High School on Tuesday afternoon 16-1 in three innings. After almost 2 years, the home opener was a huge success for the Chix. Zeeland East Jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first inning and added four more runs in the second inning before finishing with six runs in the 3rd inning to end the game.
Caleb Schrotenboer recorded the win on the mound for the Chix, going two perfect innings with three strikeouts. Jeff Agar struck out two batters in his one inning of relief. They combined for a 3-inning no hitter.
Offensively the Chix tallied 14 hits in the game. Caleb Schrotenboer and Trenton Lynema each had three hits, while Trevor Raade, Tanner Tresemer and Jeff Agar each had two hits. Tresemer, Raade and Schrotenboer all had doubles in the contest as well. The Chix (1-0) do not play again until after spring break when they begin OK Green conference play against Mona Shores.
