Zeeland East traveled to the Hudsonville Eagle Invite on Saturday.  In game one, the Chix defeated a very tough Gull Lake team by a score of 6-0.  Aidan Fredricks and Luke Gruppen combined on the mound for the complete game shutout victory.  Fredricks records the win, going 4 1/3 innings, allowing 6 hits while striking out 4.  Luke Gruppen finished the game and picked up a save in 2 2/3 innings.

Offensively, Sam Cochran, Riley Wilson and Brooks Huizenga each had two hits.  Cochran scored 2 runs and added and RBI.

In the championship game Zeeland East lost to host Hudsonville (who defeated South Christian in game 1 5-0), by a score of 5-4.  Zeeland East took a 4-3 lead into the 6th inning but could not hold on to the victory.

Trevor Raade started on the mound for Zeeland East, pitching 4 1/3 inning, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out 4 in the no-decision.

Offensively, Sam Cochran led the way with two hits and a run scored.  Nate Claerbaut and Brandon Claerbaut each chipped in with RBI's.  

Zeeland East 13-3 plays against Zeeland West in an OK-Green double-header on Tuesday.
