Zeeland East completed the 3-game series sweep of Zeeland West on Thursday afternoon in dramatic fashion.  The Chix won on a Luke Gruppen walk off single in the bottom of the 8th inning to win 4-3.

Zeeland West jumped out to an early 2-0 lead through 4-innings.  The Chix tied the game in the bottom of the 5th with two runs of their own.  Both teams answered with a run in the 6th inning to take a 3-3 game into extra innings.

Caleb Schrotenboer started for Zeeland East and pitched great, battling out of jams in the no-decision.  Schrotenboer pitched 5 innings, scattered 6 hits and allowed 3 earned runs while striking out 4.  Luke Gruppen pitched 3 innings of relief and picked up the win.  Gruppen allowed 3 hits and no runs, while striking out 2 batters.

Offensively, Trent Lynema recorded two hits for Zeeland East, 1 RBI and scored two runs, including the game winner.  Tanner Tresemer added a double and a run scored, while Jeff Agar, Ethan Houghtaling and Luke Gruppen each added RBI singles.  Sam Cochran had one hit, 3 stolen bases and run scored.

Zeeland East (16-3/11-1 OK Green) host a their own tournament on Saturday with Holland Christian, Unity Christian and Forest Hills Northern.
