Zeeland East hosted Watervliet for a doubleheader on Saturday at Hope College.  The Chix won both games by scores of 5-0 and 12-3.  

In game one, Jeff Agar recorded the win on the mound, throwing 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing only 2 hits, 0 runs and striking out 10.  Riley Wilson pitched the final 2/3 inning allowing one hit and striking out one.

Offensively, Zeeland East capitalized on a big 4-run second inning to secure the lead for good.  Tanner Tresemer had two hits for the Chix while Luke Gruppen had 2 RBI.

In game 2, Watervliet jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but wouldn't score again the entire game.  Zeeland East had strong pitching by committee, with Aidan Fredricks, Caleb Schrotenboer, Luke Gruppen and Brooks Huizenga.  The pitchers combined to scatter 5 hits and strike out 11 in the game. 

Zeeland East trailed in the game 3-0 until a huge 9-run 5th inning, highlighted by an Ethan Houghtaling 2-run homerun to take the lead.  Luke Gruppen and Jeff Agar had 3 hits for Zeeland East, while Sam Cochran and Keenan Faber each had two.  

Zeeland East improves to 27-5 overall on the season and will travel to Reeths-Puffer on Tuesday for a conference doubleheader and a chance to clinch the OK Green championship.
