Zeeland East defeated Hamilton in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 5-0. Zeeland East pitchers combined for a shutout, allowing only 2 hits while striking out 14. Ethan Houghtaling started the game in the no-decision, pitching two innings and striking out 4. Caleb Schrotenboer records the win on the mound pitching two innings of relief and striking out 6. Luke Gruppen added two innings of relief striking out two, while Sam Cochran also struck out two in the final inning of work.
Offensively, Sam Cochran led the Chix with two hits an RBI, one run scored and two stolen bases. Jeff Agar broke the game open in the third inning with a 3-run homerun. Trevor Raade, Trent Lynema and Keenan Faber all chipped in with singles.
Zeeland East finishes their regular season with a 33-5 record, the most wins in the history of the school. The Chix will travel to West Ottawa on Saturday for their district opener at 10am.
