Zeeland East baseball hosted Wayland in a single game on Tuesday afternoon (rescheduled from Monday). The Chix defeated the visiting Wildcats by a score of 4-2. Zeeland East pitchers (Trevor Raade, Evan Owens and Max Salas) combined to allow only 3 hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out 17 batters in the game. Trevor Raade started in the no-decision, striking out 8 batters in 3 innings and allowing one unearned run on two errors. Evan Owens was solid in relief with 4 k's in two innings of work. Max Salas recorded the win in relief with 5 k's in 2 innings.
Offensively, Charlie Lacny and Easton Remick both had 2 hits in the game. Max Salas and Chris Seay both added RBI doubles late in the game to put the Chix in the lead.
Zeeland East improves to 2-0 on the season and will play against rival Zeeland West following spring break.
