Zeeland East hosted Grand Rapids Union on Friday to finish their 3-game, OK-Green conference series. The Chix completed the sweep by defeating Union by a score of 11-0 (5 innings).
Evan Owens recorded the win on the mound for Zeeland East. Owens started the game and went 3 innings allowing 1 hit and no runs, while striking out 4. Eli Nienhuis pitched a perfect 4th inning with 2 strikeouts of his own, while Aidan Coutts pitched the 5th and struck out the side.
Offensively, the Chix were led by Quincy Thome who was 2 for 2 with a triple and 2 RBI. Gavin Drooger and Chris Seay were each on base 3 times and scored 2 runs. Joe Hilbink and Max Mulder each added doubles in the game.
The Chix improve to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the OK Green. They will host Grandville on Saturday for a double-header at 10am.
