Zeeland East varsity baseball team hosted Grandville for a non-conference double-header on Saturday. The Chix and Bulldogs were originally scheduled to play at a Portage Northern invite, however, due to field conditions it was canceled.

In game 2 Grandville rallied late to win 10-8 over the Chix. Zeeland East jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead and held it for the majority of the game until Grandville added 6 runs in the 6th inning. Zeeland East had bases loaded in both the 6th and 7th inning with a chance to tie or win the game, but couldn't scratch them across.
Trevor Raade started on the bump for the Chix. Raade threw 3 innings allowing 2 unearned runs and two hits while striking out 5 in the no decision. Max Mulder was solid in relief pitching 2 and 1/3 innings, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits, striking out 4. Noah DeWitt takes the loss with 1 and 2/3 innings of work.
Offensively the Chix were led by Austin Keur who had 3 hits in the game including a double and two runs scored. Noah DeWitt and Quincy Thome each added a pair of hits as well.
