ZEELAND WEST HIGH SCHOOL: 2
Zeeland East defeated Zeeland West on Thursday, completing the 3-game sweep of their OK Green rival. The Chix jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, scoring a couple runs in each of the first 4 innings. Zeeland West answered with a run of their own in the 4th and 7th but the final score ended at 7-2.
Trevor Raade recorded the win for Zeeland East. Raade went 6 innings allowing 1 earned run on only 2 hits, while striking out 9.
Offensively, Noah DeWitt and Max Salas each had a pair of hits. DeWitt had two doubles, while Joe Hilbink and Max Salas each added a double as well. Brenston Brown had a big 2 out, 2-RBI single to extend the Chix lead to 7 in the 4th inning.
Zeeland East improves to 13-1 on the season and 9-0 in the OK Green.
