The Chix were back in action Tuesday night as they hosted Grand Rapids Union High School. The game was closely contested through the first half, with the Chix leading 23-19 at halftime. MId-way through the 3rd quarter, Union converted a 3 point play to take the lead 29-28. But the Chix stepped up the defense and knocked down some big shots to end the game on an 18-1 run to pull away to a 46-30 win.
The Chix were led on offense by Trip Riemersma, who scored 16 points and grabbed 5 boards. Trip knocked down 7 of 8 free throws in the game. Brandon Claerbaut scored 13 points, including 3 three-point shots, and ripped down 7 rebounds. Nate Claerbaut tallied 10 points, 3 assists and had 5 block shots for the game. Ethan Houghtaling grabbed 8 rebounds and chipped in with 2 points.
The Chix hit the road for the next 4 games. First off is Mona Shores this Thursday. The game is scheduled for a 7 pm tip-off.
