The Chix returned home Saturday afternoon to host the Big Reds of Muskegon in a showdown of the top 2 teams in the OK Green conference and the game lived up to the billing. 

The Chix jumped out to an early lead, controlling the tempo and leading16-9 after the first quarter.  The Chix built onto the lead by 2 points in a low-scoring 2nd quarter and the Chix led 25-16 at halftime.  In the 2nd half, the Big Reds cut into the Chix lead, lowering it to 2 points with 6 minutes to go in the game. But the Chix countered the Big Red's pressure by getting the ball to the rim and knocked down some key 3 point shots to build the lead back up to 8 points late in the game.  Muskegon had one last flurry of 3 point shots getting the Zeeland lead down to 3 points with less than a minute to play.  Adam Cassel and Trip Riemersma made key free throws to preserve the lead and the Chix win 58-52.  The win gives the Chix an 8-0 overall record, 7-0 in the OK Green.

Trip Riemersma had a huge game with a double-double, scoring 19 points, grabbing 14 rebounds with 3 steals.  Nate Claerbaut added a double-double of his own, with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots.  Brandon Claerbaut was in double figures scoring for the Chix, with 10 points and 6 assists.  Luke Gruppen had 9 points while Ethan Houghtaling added 7 points and grabbed 5 boards.  Adam Cassel added 4 critical 4th quarter points, knocking down a three-point shot, and added a free throw.

The Chix are back home on Tuesday as they play host to the Holland High Dutch.  The game time is 7 p,m.
