The Chix took to the road to play Grand Rapids Union Red Hawks on Tuesday evening. The Chix jumped out to a quick start, taking a 10-1 lead after just a few minutes of play, forcing a Union time out The Chix continued their strong play in the first quarter and led 20-5 after the first quarter ended. The Chix added to the lead in the 2nd quarter and took a 43 to 13 into halftime. The Chix cruised in the 2nd half, with all 14 players seeing game action, and the Chix won the game 61 - 25. The win improves the Chix overall record to 11-0, 10-0 in OK Green action.
The Chix were led in scoring by Trip Riemersma, who scored 20 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Nate Claerbaut added 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots. Brandon Claerbaut scored 11 points and 4 rebounds, while Ethan Houghtaling chipped in with 6 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
The Chix return to the Coop on Thursday to begin a 4 game home stand as Mona Shores comes to Zeeland. The game time is 7 pm.
