The Chix hosted the West Ottawa Panthers Saturday night in the District 11 Finals at Zeeland East High School. The Chix got off to a good start and led 8-0 after the 1st Quarter. The Chix extended their lead to 13-3 mid-way through the 2nd Quarter, before West Ottawa scored the last 7 points of the 2nd Quarter to cut the Zeeland East lead to 13-10 at halftime. The Chix extended their lead to 9 points after outscoring the Panthers 8-2 in the 3rd Quarter and pulled away for the 33-20 win to claim the District championship.
Leading the way for the Chix was 6'11" Nate Claerbaut, who scored 14 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and blocked 5 shots. Trip Riemersma scored 8 points and had 2 steals. Brandon Claerbaut added 6 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Adam Cassel added a critical 3-point shot while Ethan Houghtaling had 2 points and dished out 4 assists.
The 18-0 Chix now head to the Regional at Muskegon Reeths-Puffer to play East Grand Rapids on Tuesday at 5:30 pm.
