The Chix traveled across the parking lot to Zeeland West to take on the Covenant Christian Chargers in the 2nd round of the Zeeland Christmas Classic.  The Chix kept it close early in the game, trailing 16-15 after the 1st quarter.   But the Chargers got hot in the 2nd quarter from 3-point territory and the Chix trailed 37-23 at halftime.  The Chargers extended their lead in the 3rd quarter and the Chix fell to the Chargers 63-38.  The Chix record drops to 3-5 on the season.  

Individually for the Chix, Junior BJ Walker scored 11 points, on 8-8 from the FT line.  Senior Layne Risdon added 7 points, and 5 rebounds while Junior Jacob Vera scored 6 points and 6 rebounds.  Junior Will Ver Steeg and Freshman Will Drnek each scored 4 points, while Juniors Owen Ver Steeg and Quincy Thome each scored 2 points in the game.

The Chix are off until the new year.  Their next game is the OK Green Conference home opener against Grand Rapids Union on Friday, January 5.  The varsity game should tip around 7 pm.
