Zeeland East boys varsity soccer faced a tough loss to Holland, 0-3, at their field on September 25, 2024. The game started off strong, with both teams displaying rigorous defense throughout the first half, leading to a halftime score of 0-0. The second half saw dramatically increased intensity, with Holland scoring 3 goals within the first 20 minutes of the second half. While the team showed great resilience, missed opportunities and defensive lapses in the second half proved costly. 

Sr. Clay Fredricks, outstanding goalkeeper, quoted, “We played hard in the start and I think we battled with them for a while but once we started letting up, it was when they started scoring on us. We will continue to work hard and get to it tomorrow.” 

The team remains optimistic and very focused on improving for upcoming districts. Coach Lunga stated, “We had them in the first half at 0-0, kept them to it and weathered a lot. Second half, we weathered a lot again with just a few missed goal opportunities and a few goals let in our goal but, back at it again tomorrow and it’s a new day.”
