Zeeland East Wrestling participated in the OK Green Conference Wrestling Finals on Friday the 7th at Hamilton.  East Wrestling sent 10 wrestlers to compete and all 10 placed.  Zeeland East finished in 3rd overall in a close race to the finish with 174.5 points behind Byron Center (177) and Holland (195.5).  Finishing in 4th place for East were Nick Wickers (171) and Josh Folkers (215), third place for East were Sean Bareman (130) and Trenton Klunder (152), and second place for East were Kai Saenebouttarath (189) and Andrew DeVries (285).  Conference Champions for East were Marty Landes (125), Carter Hinson (135), Noah Ledford (140), and Joel Ledford (160). 

Landes, with a current season record of 38-6, began the evening by pinning Tai Navarette of Zeeland East at 3:54 in the second period.  Landes then defeated Blake Paciencia of Byron Center in the final by technical fall at 3:24 in the second period by a score of 15-0.  This is Marty's first Conference Championship after placing second as a freshman last year.

Hinson continued his domination of the OK Green Conference by capturing his third straight title.  Hinson, with a current record of 43-3, began the night with a technical fall at 1:54 in the first period over Caleb Gaffner of Hudsonville Unity Christian with a score 16-0.  Hinson then defeated Michael Tran of Holland by technical fall at 3:55 in the second period by a score of 21-6.  Hinson, a Junior, has never lost a match to an OK Green competitor. 

Noah Ledford, with a current record of  33-8, began the night pinning Christian Castro of Holland at 56 seconds in the first period.  Noah then pinned Andrew DellaVecchia of Hamilton in the first period at 1:48. This is Noah's first Conference Championship after placing third as a freshman last year. 

Joel Ledford continued his undefeated season (45-0) by pinning his way through the tournament. Joel pinned Mitchel VanKlomenberg of Hamilton in the first period at 1:14 and then pinned Austin Ottow from Byron Center in the third period at 5:23.  Joel is the returning Conference Champion from last year.  Joel, a senior, is currently chasing a few season and career statistical records for Zeeland East wrestling including most wins in a season, most pins in a season, and many others.  Joel currently has 140 career victories and is aiming to break the 150 career wins before the end of the season.
