The Zeeland East JV baseball team traveled to Whitehall Saturday morning for a double header. In game 1, Eli Nienhuis pitched 5 and 2/3 innings allowing only 1 run on 4 hits. He struck out 10 in the game. Offensively, Koby Windeler had 2 hits (triple, single) and a walk. JJ Salas also had 2 hits and a HBP. The Chix won 9-1.
In game 2 Derek Baxter threw all 4 innings before the Chix mercied Whitehall by a score of 14-2. Baxter gave up 2 runs on 1 hit while striking out 11. Koby Windeler went 2/2 at the plate, both hits being triples, also had a walk and a HBP. Ryan Kuzma reached base all 4 times with 2 walks and 2 HBP's. Quincy Thome was 2/4 with 2 doubles in the game.
The JV Chix next play on Tuesday, April 18th. They will travel to Muskegon for a double header. Record is now 6-1.
