The Zeeland East JV baseball team traveled to Holland this afternoon for a double header. In the first game it was Gavin Drooger on the mound again. He pitched 5 innings, totaling 5 strikeout, allowing 1 hit and no runs. Offensively, JJ Salas went 2/3 with an RBI and run scored. Derek Baxter also reached base twice, including a double and scored twice. Ryan Kuzma finished the final inning on the mound allowing 1 hit and no runs as well. The Chix won game 1 5-0.
In game 2 Derek Baxter threw all 3 innings, striking out 5, allowing 1 run on no hits. The top hitters for the Chix were Koby Windeler, Quincy Thome, and Eli Nienhuis. Windeler was 4/4 with 3 singles and a double while scoring 4 runs as well. Thome was 3/4, and Nienhuis was 3/3 including a double. The Chix also ended up winning this one by a score of 18-1.
Zeeland East JV will finish the series against Holland at home on Thursday.
