The JV Chix football team traveled to Vicksburg on Wednesday evening to take on the Bulldogs.  The Chix offense was opportunistic and the Chix defense was stingy and the Chix came away with a 22-14 win, leveling their record on the season at 1 – 1. 

Offensively, the Chix had a balanced attack.  Sam Cochran was efficient passing the ball, completing 14 of 20 attempts for 115 yards and 1 touchdown.  Sam also ran for a score.  Nick Lamberts rushed the ball for 138 yards on 16 carries, including a 81 yard run.  Nathan Austin Fields ran for a score as well.  Receiving the ball, Brandon Claerbaut caught 7 balls for 70 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, the Chix were very disruptive.  The defense forced 3 turnovers and recorded 12 tackles for loss (TFL), while only giving up 173 yards of offense to the Bulldogs.  Zach Bellis led the way from his middle linebacker position, with 11 tackles and 2 TFL.  Caleb Schrotenboer recorded 5 tackles, with 3.5 TFL and Nate Vereeke recorded 5 tackles, with a TFL.  Nathan Austin Fields, Cole Machiela and Colin DeKraker had key interceptions in the game to help secure the win.

The Chix are back in action at home next week Thursday as they take on Catholic Central.
