In game 2 of the double header, the Chix exploded for 17 runs on 16 hits and won 17 – 4. Luke Gruppen had a monster game, with 2 inside-the-park homeruns, a triple and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 7. There were many other offensive contributors as well. Isaiah Buitenhuis had 3 hits, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Cole Machiela added 3 hits and a RBI. Sam Cochran reached base 4 times and scored 3 runs and had 2 RBI. Trenton Lynema added 2 hits and 2 runs scored. Domenic Schuitema knocked in 2 runs with a double and reached base twice. Brandon Claerbaut reached base twice, scored 2 runs, and knocked in 1. Drew Wyckoff and Tyler VanderZwaag each reach base twice and scored a run. Sam Kikstra scored 3 runs and stole 3 bases. Isaiah Buitenhuis started the game for the Chix picking up the win. Nathan Claerbaut came in pitched the last inning to close the game out. The Chix record stands at 12 wins and 6 losses. They are back home on Friday (today) as they take on the Hudsonville Eagles.
