On Monday the Chix freshman baseball team hosted the very tough East Grand Rapids Pioneers in a doubleheader. 

In game 1 EGR defeated the Chix 9-1. Gabe Vera started the game for the Chix and pitched well for 4.1 innings. He was relieved by Conner Schipper who finished out the game on the mound. The Chix were able to reach base often but innings stalled as the Pioneers played great defense all night. 

Noah Ledford tripled and scored a run for the Chix. Aidan Fredricks had three hits and an RBI. 

in game two Levi Boersma got the start on the mound. He pitched 1.1 innings and pitched well but had some touch breaks. Dylan Kenyon pitched great in 3.2 innings in relief.  The Chix trailed for the entire game but were able to mount a furious comeback in the bottom of the fifth innings. Levi Boersma led the Chix with two hits, Fredricks, Gavin Brouwer, and Evan Burgess also had hits. Conner Schipper drove in 2 runs and Fredricks, Ledford, and Boersma each had a stolen base.
