Scorekeepers were kept busy today during a high-scoring scrimmage (due to umpire shortage) between Zeeland East and East Kentwood where Zeeland East prevailed 8-7.
Zeeland put up three runs in the second inning. Kirsten Piatek had an RBI double in the inning to lead the run scoring.
East took the lead for good with two runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Taylor Hinson singled on a 1-1 count, getting a RBI. Anna Jipping hit into a fielder's choice, allowing another run to score.
Megan Greeene led things off on the mound for Zeeland East. She lasted four innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out four and walking zero.
Zeeland East tallied 14 hits on the day. Romelia Elizardo, Kirsten Piatek, Taylor Hinson, and Addy Silguero all managed multiple hits for Zeeland East. Elizardo led Zeeland East with four hits in five at bats.
