Zeeland East Clinches Lead In Eighth Inning For Victory Over Holland 9-7

The second game of the doubleheader went to extra innings. The game was tied at six with Zeeland East batting in the top of the eighth when Megan Greene singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Zeeland East totaled 11 hits in the game. Riley Comden (pictured) led Zeeland East with four hits in four at bats one of them a home run. It was truly a team effort for the Chix.
Greene got the win for Zeeland East. She lasted six and a third innings, allowing nine hits and six runs while striking out seven. Anna Jipping threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Jipping recorded the last five outs to earn the save for Zeeland East.
Ashton Maloney took the loss for Holland. She allowed 11 hits and eight runs over eight innings, striking out five. Holland had ten hits in the game. Fitch and Maloney all managed multiple hits for Holland. Fitch went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Holland in hits.
