In Walk-Off, Zeeland East Loses to Zeeland West
A walk-off left Zeeland East on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat to Zeeland West on Tuesday. The game was tied at two with Zeeland West batting in the bottom of the seventh when Elexia Fuentes singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Zeeland West pitchers struck out three, while Zeeland East sat down five.
The Chix knotted the game up at two in the top of the sixth inning. Maddy Chatman hit a solo homer.
Emily Brands earned the win for the Dux. She allowed five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking one.
Sydni Leonard took the loss for Zeeland East. She lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out five.
