Chatman Shines At The Plate In Zeeland East’s Victory Over Forest Hills Central

Maddy Chatman didn't feel much like getting out on Thursday, tallying four hits and leading the Chix to a 13-5 win over Forest Hills Central in game 2 of DH.  Chatman singled in the first, tripled in the fourth, doubled in the fifth, and singled in the seventh.

The Chix earned the victory despite allowing Forest Hills Central to score three runs in the first inning. Alyssa Wierenga, Maya Holser, and Jamison Sturtz each drove in runs during the inning.

The Chix opened up scoring in the first inning with one run when Chatman singled.

Riley Gruppen pitched the Chix to victory. The fireballer surrendered four runs on six hits over four innings, striking out three. Madalyn Hickey and Chatman entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Lacey Smith took the loss for Forest Hills Central. The hurler allowed 14 hits and 12 runs over four and a third innings, striking out three.

The Chix collected a total of 15 hits. Chatman, Ali Holman, Gruppen, and Hickey each collected multiple hits for Zeeland East Chix Varsity. Chatman led the Chix with four hits in five at bats.
