4-Hit Day For Carlson Leads the Chix Past Holland

Four hits from Katie Carlson helped lead the Chix past Holland 15-5 on Tuesday in game 1 of the conference double header. Carlson singled in the first, homered in the second, singled in the fourth, and tripled in the fifth.

The Chix earned the victory despite allowing Holland to score three runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught by Holland was led by S Brandon and A Duff, who all drove in runs.

The Chix pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning. In the second Riley Gruppen singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run, Ali Holman doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs, Maddy Chatman doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and Carlson homered on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

The Chix notched six runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Carlson and Jaiden Lee, a home run by Riley Gruppen, and a double by Audrey Dreyer.

Carlson took the win on the mound for Zeeland East. She allowed four hits and five runs over five innings, striking out five.

M Fischer took the loss for Holland, allowing 18 hits and 15 runs while striking out two and walking one.

The Chix tallied three home runs on the day. Katie Carlson put one out in the second inning. Ella Hathaway went yard in the third inning.  Riley Gruppen had a dinger in the fourth inning.

The Chix racked up 18 hits on the day. Carlson, Holman, Gruppen, Aliza Touch, Jaiden Lee, Maddy Chatman, and Ella Hathaway all managed multiple hits for Zeeland East.
