Zeeland East Defeats Greenville Despite Allowing 3-Run Inning

Despite allowing three runs in the fifth inning, Zeeland East defeated Greenville 15-4 on Wednesday. Taylor and Moore each had RBIs in the frame.

In the first inning, Zeeland East got their offense started when Ella Hathaway singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Zeeland East scored five runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Ali Holman and Hathaway and an error on a ball put in play by Ashlyn Mendelsohn.

Riley Gruppen pitched Zeeland East to victory. The hurler went six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking one.

Rice took the loss for Greenville. The hurler allowed 18 hits and 15 runs over six innings, striking out three.

Zeeland East totaled 18 hits. Hathaway, Gruppen, Jaiden Lee, Mackenzie Ruimveld, Emme Meyering, Holman, and Lorelei Buikema all had multiple hits for Zeeland East. Gruppen and Hathaway each managed three hits to lead Zeeland East.

Greenville collected seven hits on the day. Moore and Thompson each had multiple hits for Greenville.
