ZE opens season with solid performance

The young Chix began the 2023 season by hosting Reeths-Puffer, Hamilton and highly ranked Jenison at DeWitt Tennis Center. ZE opening match saw victories by Laura Thomsen (1S), ThyAn Kleikamp/Elise Jackson (2D), Lucy McRae/Meg DeVisser (3D) and Katherine Rogovich/Morgan Achterhof (4D) allowing the Chix to come back and Tie the Hawkeyes. Match 2 featured a clean sweep by the Chix over conference foe Reeths-Puffer in a strong performance. The last match of the day featured wins by freshmen Taya Schanski/Katherine Rogovich at 2D and Lucy McRae/Natalie Veldheer (3D), but the Chix were defeated by the Wildcats 6 to 2.
The Chix had 14 individual wins on the day going 1-1-1 as a team.
ZE hopes to continue play Monday at home against Hudsonville Uity Christian at 4pm.
