Both the boys and girls teams lost their dual meet against Grand Haven this morning as they knocked off some of the rust from a lack of racing over the past nine months. Despite the humid conditions and tough course, ZE had a strong showing and ran well, even if the times weren't particularly impressive.

In the boys race, Caden Meyer (Jr) started his season by winning the race by 14 seconds over Grand Haven's top runner. Caden's effort was complimented by strong efforts from Mason Villarreal (So), Nick Riemersma (So), and rookie Mason Landes (Fr), who finished 7th, 8th, and 9th, respectively. The top 5 for the Chix was rounded out by Gavin Wiersma (So) who finished 12th overall. The final score of the boys meet was 37-20.

In the girls race, Emily Macina (Sr) led the Chix with a very well run second place finish. Rookie Ally Kuzma (Fr) came in next for ZE just in front of Mary Huizingh (Jr) and Emalee Postma (Jr) who finished 7th, 8th, and 9th, respectively. Hayley Heinrich finished fifth for the Chix and 15th overall. The final score of the girls meet was 38-19.
