Both the boys and girls track and field teams defeated Muskegon and Reeths Puffer in their double duals last night. In the girls' meet, Ily Watson won the 100m dash with a new personal best time of 13.07 while the Chix milers took the top 5 places led by Emily Macina. Payton Heer set a new personal best of 16.96 in the 100m hurdles on her way to victory in the event and Anna Sluiter took the win in long jump with a season best leap of 14' 7". The Chix also swept pole vault, led by a new personal best for Rylee Sluiter of 8' 6" and took the top 7 spots in shot put and top 5 spots in discus, led by Paige Westra and Shelby Ulven, respectively. On the boys' side, Caden Meyer and Gavin Wiersma took the top 2 spots in the 1600m, both running new personal best times with Meyer also claiming victory in the 3200m run. In the 400m dash, Nick Riemersma and Sam Kikstra ran personal best times to finish 1-2 in impressive fashion and Gavin Lloyd took 1st in the 110m hurdles. The Chix also swept shot put led by Aidan Taylor and took the top 5 spots in discus with Connor Scholten taking the win. Tanner Wise won high jump in his first ever competition, jumping 5' 10" and Charlie Drnek set a new personal best of 12' 0" en route to a victory in the event. Chix track and field will be back in action Saturday at Houseman Field for the GR Elite Challenge.
