The Zeeland Girls bowling team finally got to bowl in their first tournament of the year. The always competitive Hudsonville Invite was just that again this year. The girls started off with two singles games and bowled a nice 923 game followed by a 814 game. They were leading the 10 team field going into the 4 game baker set. They bowled 194 and 197 their first two games of Bakers and then started to lose their line and shot 160 and 156 their last two. The girls were the top qualifier when the teams were cut to 4.
The girls were matched up against a familiar and tough Thornapple Kellogg team. The girls won the first baker by 30 pins and the second by 17. This put the girls into the finals against Hudsonville. The first baker was close and we had a 5 pin lead. The second game slipped away from the girls as we didn't make makeable spares and Hudsonville easily made up the 5 pin deficit and took the championship.
High games were rolled by Ellie Drenten 235, Morgan Smith 186 and Brianna Fortney 180.
