Zeeland East Wrestling delivered a near-flawless performance this past Wednesday, dropping only one match across two duals. The Chix dominated Unity Christian with a decisive 75-6 victory and followed it up with a perfect 82-0 shutout against West Catholic. The team's success was a testament to their preparation, focus, and all-around effort. Zeeland East continues to build momentum moving their record to 6-1 on the season.
Senior Caden Arendsen competed in two matches in the 157 lb weight class. Earning a win by technical fall with a score of 22-6 against Unity Christian, and getting a fast pin in the first period against West Catholic. When asked about his pin, Arendsen stated, “I got him into a bow and arrow, and then I was able to put him in a spladel to get a pin.” Arendsen’s wins scored 11 team points. The very first varsity match resulted in a win for Unity Christian. From there that was their only loss, the team had numerous pins in all weight classes. Coach Chris Heald commented, “I was very impressed with how our kids came out and got after it. We always preach trying to get the first takedown and dominating your opponent and we did that.”
The Chix head to Allendale Saturday to compete at the 4th annual Ottawa County Tournament.
