Zeeland East Wrestling faced tough competition this past Wednesday at the Wayland Union Quad. The Chix fell short with a score of 30-44 against Hamilton and faced a tough loss to Wayland Union scoring 52-17. Zeeland East currently stands at a record of 8-3.

Coach Chris Heald stated, “Even though it wasn’t a win Gavin Drenten’s performance against Wayland Union's defending state champion was definitely a major highlight of the night.” Drenten faced the same competition this past Saturday at the Falcon Invite and was defeated by pin. However, when given the opportunity for a rematch Drenten didn’t waste his chance. He stretched his match into overtime but just fell short. Jackson VanderZwaag commented on the match, “We were all so hyped up watching Gavin wrestle, you could feel the energy in the room.” 

The Chix will travel across the path to face off against the Rival Dux next week on Wednesday.
