The Zeeland Womens Water Polo team stormed back from the fun and sun of Spring Break and defeated Conference rival East Kentwood 5-4. Zeeland led 3-1 at half and 4-2 early in the 3rd before EK came back to tie it 4-4. Jenna Schrotenboer scored her second goal of the game on a sweet assist from Sarah Houtman. The Falcons called a timeout with 41 seconds left, but were ultimately thwarted by great defense by Madi Duquette who held up her opponent to allow Katie Agar to swoop in for a steal with 20 seconds left.
Duquette and Schrotenboer led the team with 2 goals a piece and Houtman added the other. Rylie Toth filled out the rest of the stat sheet leading the team with 2 assists, 8 steals, and 3 field blocks. Jenna Schrotenboer led the team with 3 drawn exclusions. In goal, Morgan Beers made 7 saves and really improved her passing.
"We had a lot of girls step up in this game. It's hard playing a game right out of Spring Break, especially against a team like EK. The girls played great team polo, especially Ashley Ketchum and Katie Agar." -Coach Dave Vruggink
