Jenison, Mich - The #3 Zeeland Women's Varsoty Water Polo Conference season came to a close on Thursday night with a 6-1 victory over Jenison. The win secured 3rd place in the 10 team OK Rainbow Conference behind #1 Hudsonville and #2 Rockford.
Zeeland (15-8 Overall and 7-2 Conference) played great defense right from the start with another stellar performance in goal by Morgan Beers who made 17 saves and added an assist. The game also marked the return of defensive specialist Rylie Toth who missed the last 2 weeks due to an injury. Rylie added 4 assists, 6 steals, and 2 field blocks.
In offense, Zeeland was once again paced by Jenna Schrotenboer who had 3 goals. Madi Duquette scored on a penalty shot, while Katie Agar and Rylee Leestma each added a goal.
"Defensively, we played exceptionally and functioned as a unit. Our offense keeps getting better with each game. We are doing the right things, now we need to start executing better." Coach Dave Vruggink
Next up, the team travels to Rockford to play in the last regular season tournament of the year. The team plays Hudsonville and Ann Arbor Huron on Friday
