Kentwood Mich - The Zeeland Women's Water Polo Team's season came to a dramatic finish at East Kentwood HS with a 5-4 OT loss to the #3 ranked Rockford Rams. Zeeland never led during the game. Rockford scored the first goal and Jenna Schrotenboer answered the tally with a goal of her own. The Rams then built a 3-1 lead before Madi Duquette scored on a man-up advantage to pull the score to 3-2 at the half.
Rockford netted their 4th goal in the third to go up 4-2 before Ashley Ketchum scored to pull within 1 (4-3) to end the third period. The 4th quarter was back and forth before Jenna Schrotenboer scored on a sweep shot while being guarded by the Rams top 2 players with 2:00.
The great defense continued in OT and both teams failed to score in the first period. The Rams scored with 2:00 left in the second period on a perfect outside shot to close out the period. Zeeland managed a few opportunities after that, but failed to find the back of the net.
Morgan Beers made 16 saves in goal and added an assists in another stellar performance. Katie Agar led the team with 2 assists. Rylie Toth led the team with 4 steals and Peyton Elenbaas made 2 field blocks.
