Despite trailing by as many as four runs, ZE JV rallied to beat Mona Shores 7-6 in their final game of the season. Mona jumped to an early 4-0 lead in the top of the 1st, the Chix quickly responded with 3 of their own. The Chix then tied the game in the 5th inning at 6-6. In the bottom of the 7th with runners on 1st and 2nd, Anders Tibbs bunted a ball that was fielded and thrown into left field allowing the winning run to score on the error.
Offensively, Ryan Kuzma led the way with 3 hits including a triple, Raade, Davis, Baxter and Ulberg all had multiple hits in the game as well. On the mound, Gavin Weighmink threw the first 3.2 innings before passing the ball off to Mason Raade who threw 3.1. Raade allowed no hits and struck out 3 batters.

Zeeland East JV traveled to Mona Shores on Tuesday for the final double header of the season. The Chix won game 1 by a score of 10-3. Leading the way was Derek Baxter who hit 2 doubles, Kuzma added 2 hits of his own. Kuzma also started the game on the mound and threw 4 2/3 innings. He allowed just 1 earned run and struck out 4. Tibbs closed the game.
In game 2, the Chix handled Mona again winning 9-1. Kuzma, Ulberg and Weighmink all had 2 hits in the game. Derek Baxter threw 5 innings in the game striking out 8. Gavin Weighmink closed the game on the mound to secure the win.
The JV Chix are now 19-3 and look for their 20th win of the season at home on Thursday. This will be their last game.
Zeeland East JV wrap up the Reeths Puffer series with a 5 inning mercy, and a sweep! (12-0)
The Chix opened up the game with a 5 run first inning, then continued to add more runs each inning after. Offensively, Davis and Baxter led the way. Davis 2 doubles, Baxter 2 hits (double) and 2 RBIs. Raade drew a walk in all 4 plate appearances.
On the mound, Gavin Weighmink threw a complete game shutout. He allowed just 2 hits while striking out 5.
The Chix are now 17-3 as they head into the final week of the season against Mona Shores.
Zeeland East JV traveled to Reeths Puffer and win both games of doubleheader.
Game 1 was tied 3-3 in the 5th inning, before the Chix put up 4 runs in the top of the 6th to go on and win 7-3. Leading the bats was Mason Raade going 3/3 at the plate. Derek Baxter also added 3 RBIs. On the mound, starter Ryan Kuzma went 4 and 2/3 innings. Kuzma allowed 2 earned runs and struck out 6. Weighmink closed the game striking out 2.
Game 2, the Chix won 9-4. Defensively it was a clean game with no errors. Baxter, Raade and Tibbs combined to complete the game. Baxter 3 innings, 5 Ks, Raade 2 1/3 with 4 Ks. Offensively it was Raade again along with Weighmink and Kuzma. Each collecting 2 hits, Raade 2 RBIs.
Game 3 vs Reeths Puffer is Thursday at home.
The JV Chix wrapped up the Holland series with a 11-0 win to complete the sweep.
The Chix had 14 hits in the game, most of the season. Jaworowski and Weighmink led the way with 3 hits each. Weighmink also had 3 RBIs in the game and a double.
Defensively the Chix played a great game, making tough plays and ended the game with no errors. On the mound, Gavin Weighmink pitched a complete game shutout. Weighmink threw 5 innings, striking out 4 and walking only 2.
The JV Chix are now 14-3.
Zeeland East JV took on Holland at home for a rescheduled double-header today.
In game 1, the Chix battled against their own errors, but came out on top 5-4. Offensively, Ryan Kuzma led the way with 3 hits including a triple and a double. Also added 2 RBIs. Peyton Davis added 2 singles and 2 RBIs of his own. On the mound, Kuzma and Tibbs both threw 3 innings, striking out 9 together (Kuzma 4, Tibbs 5). Each only allowed 1 earned run. Cam Jaworowski recorded the 1 inning save striking out 2/3 batters.
Game 2 the Chix handled and won 15-0. 5 different players all had multiple RBIs for the Chix. Weighmink, Kuzma, and Ulberg all had 2 hits in the game. Each had a double. Defensively, Derek Baxter threw a complete game shutout for the Chix (4 innings). Baxter allowed just 1 hit, 0 runs, and had 6 strikeouts.
The JV Chix finish the series tomorrow at Holland.
On Friday, the JV Chix traveled to Hudsonville for a double-header.
Game 1 was a tough, hard fought game by both teams. Hudsonville got the best of the Chix thanks to their defense. Hudsonville scored 3 in the 3rd. The Chix scored 1 run in the 4th, RBI single from Peyton Davis. On the mound, Kuzma started the game and threw 3 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. He had 5 Ks. Weighmink releived the next 2 innings striking out 4. Final 3-1.
Game 2 Hudsonville came out swinging, scoring runs every inning, leading 11-0 after the 4th. Baxter and Hunderman each pitched, each striking out 3 as well. Final 11-0.
The Chix are now 11-3 and take on Holland next week.
The Zeeland East JV Chix wrapped up the Muskegon series with an away win in 3 innings by a score of 15-0. The Chix opened up the game in the 3rd inning with 10 runs. Offensively, Derek Baxter had 2 hits (double, single). JD Hutt helped out with a single and 2 RBIs. On the mound Peyton Davis threw the 1st inning allowing 0 hits, 0 runs and 1 strikeout. Kam Beltran pitched the final 2 innings, striking out 4 and allowing 0 hits and runs.
The Chix play a doubleheader tomorrow at Hudsonville to finish off their week.
The JV Chix took on Muskegon this afternoon for a double header. In game 1, the Chix collected 17 hits leading to 16 runs. Offensively, Jaworowski and Ulberg led the way with 3 hits each in 3 at bats. Peyton Davis had 2 hits and 4 RBIs and JD Hutt also added 2 hits of his own. On the mound, Derek Baxter and Ryan Kuzma gave up no hits and no runs in the game, striking out all 9 batters. Chix win 16-0.
In game 2, Anders Tibbs had 2 hits and Gavin Weighmink scored 3 times. Kuzma, Weighmink and Jaworowski all threw an inning in game 2. The group allowed 1 hit and no runs striking out 7. Chix win this one 16-0 as well.
They travel to Muskegon on Thursday to wrap up the series.
The JV Chix finished up the final 3 innings of game 2 on Thursday before game 3. Gavin Weighmink threw all 5 innings of the game, allowing 5 hits but no runs. He struck out 3 batters in his winning performance. The Chix mercied the Dux in 5 innings with a score of 10-0.
In game 3 it was back and forth. The Dux took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd, the Chix then answered with a run of their own to tie it before scoring 2 more in the 3rd, thanks to a 2 RBI single from Morgan Ulberg. In the top of the 5th, the Dux scored 4 runs making it 5-3, the eventual final score. Ulberg (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Kuzma (2 hits, 2 SB) led the way offensively with multiple hits. Defensively, Mason Raade threw 4.1 innings, Cam Jaworowski 2/3 innings, and Derek Baxter threw the final 2 innings. They combined for 10 Ks.
The JV Chix are home again for a doubleheader against Muskegon on Tuesday.

On the mound, he pitched 4 innings allowing 3 runs, striking out 6. After Kuzma, Tibbs (2 IP) and Jaworowski (1 IP) combined for the last 3 innings allowing 0 runs.
Offensively, Davis added 2 hits and 2 RBI.
Game 2 was started but will resume before the final game on Thursday. The Chix are up 5-0 in the top of the 3rd, thanks to a 3 run home run from Mason Raade.
The JV Chix wrapped up their series against Wyoming at home with another win, 17-1.
On the mound, Derek Baxter threw the first 2 of 3 innings. Baxter's stat line: 2.0 IP, 1 Hit, 0 Runs, 5 Ks. Mason Raade pitched the final inning.
Offensively, Kam Beltran led the way with 2 hits and 4 RBIs along with Peyton Davis 2 doubles, HBP, 3 RBI. Davis, Beltran, Baxter and Raade all had doubles in the game. The Chix totaled 10 hits, and defensively totaled 0 errors.
Chix take on the rival Dux next week for a 3 game series.

In game 1, the JV Chix were led offensively by Andrew Natte, Ryan Kuzma, and Morgan Ulberg each collecting 2 hits. Gavin Weighmink, Ryan Kuzma, and Mason Raade all doubled in the game. The Chix had an 11 run inning which boosted them to the mercy after the 4th inning.
On the mound, Ryan Kuzma and Anders Tibbs combined for a no hitter. Kuzma threw the first 3 no hit innings, striking out 7, then handed the ball over to Tibbs to complete the no hitter and shutout.
Game 2: 17-2 (4 innings)
The Chix offense exploded for 17 runs in the first inning thanks to 11 hits. The Chix went on to forfeit the rest of their ABs due to mercy rule. Leading the way was Gavin Weighmink with 3 hits and 4 RBIs. Ryan Kuzma had 2 triples leading to 3 RBIs. Baxter and Jaworowski each had a double in the game.
Gavin Weighmink also started the game on the mound, he threw the first 2.2 innings totaling 7 k's. Cam Jaworowski pitched the final 1.1 innings and struck out 3.
The JV Chix return home for a single against Wyoming on Thursday.
Zeeland East JV wins big over Holland Christian 13-3 on Friday.
The Chix got on the board first after a hit from Mason Raade in the first inning. Peyton Davis grounded into a fielders choice leading to another run. The Chix marked another run in the 3rd inning after a Davis walk.
In the top of the 4th, the Chix scored 5 runs on walks from Raade and Tibbs, Davis with a double. 5 more runs were added in the top of the 6th. Jaworowski and Weighmink walked, Baxter and Hutt both with RBI singles.
Freshman Mason Raade picked up the win on the mound, letting up just 2 runs in 3 innings of work. Baxter appeared in relief and Jaworowski closed the final inning.

To open up the season the Chix started out tied through the first 3 innings with Grand Rapids Union 3-3. In the fourth, the Chix finally broke away, eventually scoring an additional 10 runs leading to the mercy after 5 innings.
